The Shop
We are pleased to announce the return of the online shop. Follow the link on the Shop page of this site to go to Rusty’s all-new, much improved emporium. At the time of writing we are just offering CDs on line but you can still get T-shirts at gigs. Also the WC Brewery are still offering Mahone Brew mugs via their site.
Gigs
Middlewich was its usual boisterous self and we again featured new tunes in the set. Specially learned for the occasion was a laid-back DJ composition “Middlewich Locks”, inspired by the Boat side of the festival. Christy and Doc were also performing with Full House on the Saturday afternoon. As the other band scheduled couldn’t make it on the day, this turned into a marathon session, with Rusty joining the band for the final set.
We’re all gathered tonight for a celebration of DJ’s birthday, and then off to Glastonbury next weekend. There’s likely to be an acoustic warm-up night in July or August to keep us in trim for the Cropredy gig on 8 August. We are kicking off the Friday session at noon, and in Charlie’s unavoidable absence, we will be joined at various points in the set by Dave Pegg and Maartin Allcock on bass. The set will be followed by a CD signing session at about 1.30pm.
After that it will be Loopallu in September. If you’ve never been to this festival, and you’re slightly concerned at the last-minute announcement of the line-up, don’t worry! They always leave it late and it’s always worth waiting for, so get your tickets, book the Friday and Monday off work, and figure out how you’re going to get to the North West of Scotland!
As ever, we look forward to meet friends old and new over the summer, and whether you’re a Mahone virgin or a veteran, do come and say hello! It’s meeting and playing for you guys that makes it all so enjoyable.
March 08 - 10th Anniversary and Summer festivals
The 10th anniversary weekend went really well and we're grateful to all who came along to the gigs and made them such fun. Sell-outs in St Helens and Chester were followed up by a very satisfactory crowd for our first ever London gig (apart from the McGowan support a few years ago now). Special thanks to Chris H for braving the rigours of a digital desk at Dingwalls and to Jock for getting us everywhere on time and all in one piece. A special mention also for the lads from the WC Brewery who did us proud again with 3 barrels of Mahone Brew at Chester. The Holmfirth Festival of Folk did us proud on 10th May with a full house and a memorable evening sharing the stage with John Cooper Clarke.
We hope you enjoyed the new tunes, 10 Years Gone, Fitzrovia, The Old Harbour Lights and As I Walked Out. We'll be keeping them in or around the set for the rest of this year. We also finally put together a live arrangement of The Friday Busking Club which will feature for the rest of this year at least. So now our attention turns to the Summer and after the traditional Middlewich Friday gig we're delighted to be playing Glastonbury for the first time in June and then Cropredy for the second time in August. As Charlie will be away on other business Dave Pegg has nobly agreed to deputise on bass for the Cropredy bash. Contact details for all the confirmed gigs are now on the gig list so do get in touch with the organisers and book your places!

10th Anniversary Plans and other stuff updated 15/1/08
We are delighted to announce that, to mark our 10th anniversary, we will play gigs at two of our favourite venues in mid-March. On Saturday 15th we will be at The Citadel, St Helens, and Sunday the 16th, Telfords Warehouse in Chester. Please contact the venues directly for ticket availability as both these venues usually sell out quite quickly for our gigs there. We are also finalising arrangements to play at Dingwalls in Camden Town on Monday 17th so look out for further details of that. At the Telfords gig we are hoping to have a specially commissioned Anniversary Brew from the excellent chaps at the WC Brewery, this time ordering 3 barrels as last time's 2 still sold out by the interval!
Other plans for 2008 will include 3 festivals in the June to September period; again, we will announce details here as soon as they are confirmed.
Concerning other gigs, we are mulling over direction; we have really enjoyed doing a few acoustic sets in 2007 although we do realise that many of you prefer the full fat version! All and any feedback welcome as always, as well as any ideas for acoustic/roots venues who might be interested.
Elsewhere on the web site we've tidied things up a bit to simplify maintenance and increase security. Contacting us is now via a direct email address - the link on the front page is a graphic image to prevent robots spamming us, so sorry, you'll have to type it in! I've removed sounds and video from the site as there's a fair amount of our stuff now available on YouTube and MySpace. Links are provided to Charlie, Rusty and Jock who have put much of this material online. Rusty is now back in business with online merchandise so all enquiries via his MySpace site, please.
